I'm looking for a little clarification on search engines.

I've been picking up a lot of conflicting advice on search engine submission. The one constant seems to be that paying someone to do it for you is a complete waste of money. Accepting this, is it really necessary to submit at all?

I went along to Goggle, Yahoo and MSN to type in my URL on their submission pages, and they all seem to say that if my site can already be found through the search engine, then submission is not necessary. In all three cases, they'd already found me.

Now, as almost all traffic comes from Goggle, Yahoo or MSN, is there any point in worrying about search engine submission at all?

In my opinion no, you don't have to submit your website to the search engines.

Here is how the Search Engines work:


Submitting your website to search engines can take far to long. If you get a website already in the Search Engines index to link to your website, you can quickly be indexed.

The best way to get a website already in the index is to submit to a directory. Some don't requrie a link back so you're basically getting a free link and a quick entry into the index.

I would have to agree with Mr. Tech submit to a directory, I submitted my site to most, and all the free ones on this list Free Web Directories
I was indexed fairly quick, If you want to get a good PR you have to get a lot of good guilty inbound links from sites that cover the same content and topic as yours, The higher their PR the better.
