Default What are the differences between different SSL Providers?

With the aim of making Internet transactions very secure Netscape has designed Secure Socket Layer protocol, in short SSL protocol. All the transactions from web browser to the web server can be made secure by the use of SSL certificates which are issued by third party Certificate Authority, also called CA. SSL certificate is an industry standard all over the world and is widely used by millions of web sites in the protection of their online transactions with their clients. There are many SSL service providers who are offering various products to suit the business requirements of Large Enterprises, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs), and even personal businesses. Some of the major SSL providers are Verisign, Rapidssl, Geotrust, Instantssl, XRamp and many more.

Verisign is the one of the major players in this area. In fact, it is the market leader. It processes not less than fifteen billion Internet interactions everyday and it also supports more than ninety million phone calls each day. More than 500,000 Web sites and 3,000 enterprises are depending on Verisign to make their day-to-day Internet transactions operate securely, reliably, and efficiently. They operate largest independent SS7 network in the world.

RapidSSL is another leading service provider of SSL. It tagged itself as the fastest growing SSL provider in the world. It mainly focuses on the Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) with its strong 128 / 256 bit encryption, industry standard SSL certificates. It also offers Professional Level certificates from GeoTrust.

GeoTrust, another SSL provider is the world's second largest digital certificate provider. Even though it has products, which are focusing on the SMBs, its main clientele comes from the large enterprises. It is a leader in a wide variety of Identity and Trust services.

XRamp security mainly concentrates on the 256 bit digital certificates. More than 99.7% web browser’s supports it worldwide. It is the first Certificate Authority (CA) to offer 256-bit SSL certificates. XRamp offers complete transactional security from the browser to the bank. XRamp is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and has earned the AICPA/CICA Web Trust Seal of Assurance for Certificate Authorities for three years in a row.

At www.ssl.com you can get SSL certificates, wildcard certificates, Verisign certificates, InstantSSL certificates, and a host of other digital SSL certificates from all the leading vendors in the world. To help your business transactions make secure, you can select the best-fit security product from these wide options.
