Question Redesigning My Website and SEO?

Hi there,

I plan to redesign my website soon. It ranks pretty well at the moment and when I do redesign it, I don't want to stuff up my ranking etc.

1. Do search engines punish you with the big redesign change?

2. Is it best to keep all your current links on the home page after the redesign, linking to all my websites pages and remote pages that it linked to before I did the redesign? Or is it ok to change and move around stuff.

Thanks for your input

Ben

Hey Ben,

Welcome to to the forums. Answers to your questions:

No, you redesigning your website will give you no problems. Just make sure that everything you have indexed and want to remain indexed stays linked. If you plan to change page names I recomend that you use a 301 code in HTTP headers which will tell the Search Engines that the page has been permanently moved to the new URL.

You should be able to move all your links around without any problems. However like I said above make sure you link to all pages that are indexed and want to keep indexed.

Cheers

Tech
