Default Help Intagrating PhpBB Themes Into Normal Pages.

hello. i am trying to design pages with the subSilver theme. these pages would consist of frames. the left frame would be all links to pictures, while the right hand frame would contain info and pictures. i would like to have it so that when a link on the left frame is clicked, the picture loads into the right frame. now, i understand some html, so i was able to do this by myself in normal html, but im not too familiar with php. im not sure what directories these files should go into, im not sure if i would need a template file, ect ect. any help is greatly appreated.

cheers

Hi and Welcome mr t :cheesygr:

In the page with the code for the frames, you have to give the frame your linking to a name.

e.g

Code:
<frame src="main.html" name="main">

See the name="main"? That's the name.

Now on your left links, on every link that should appear on the right frame should look like this:

Code:
<a href="photos.html" target="main">Photos!</a>

See the target="main"? What that's saying is open this page in the "main" window.

Do you understand that?

You don't have to use PHP but you can find some tutrials on it here:

I hope that helps!

thanks for responding and the welcome. i understand everything you said. my problem isnt with the html, its with the phpBB templates. i will attach a print screen of my old old old ugly web site to help explain myself.

In the left frame, my links. when clicked, they pop up in the right frame. but as you can see, that layout is very very very ugly and boring, so i wish to spice it up with subSilver. this is what i am un clear of. i am decent with tables in html, so i know how to make those, and ive studied many template files, and ahve experimented moving things around and such, but i am still unclear as to what i will need to . this is what i would like my left frame to look like with the php templates(i did this in paint :lol

any one have a clue? becuase im lost.

cheers.

With PHP, you don't see the script on the page like JavaScript. It just shows plain html. Just click View > Source and have a look at this forums source and you wont see any PHP.

So that's all you need to do. Click View > Source at your forum and copy the HTML code from there.

Understand what I'm saying?
