Default Modules how save are they from being copied

I work for an E-commerce company and we are currently getting a new module made for a online shopping store. Is there anyway to protect ourselves from having the programmer sell or give away this module to other programmers to duplicate for their own sites or clients?

If we have access to this module is it in our best interests to resell it to others to make a profit?

Thank you for your help.

I would say that most programmers wouldn't resell something, but if they did you can contact the company that has it and the person who sold you the script.

I agree with met that it isn't very likely they will resell.

I don't know anything about this but maybe considering some sort of a contract...
