We'd like to open a new department for web site design, but I know nothing about PRO graphics software. Can you tell me what software to choose and what it will cost me?

Photoshop is definately the best but that's going to set you back about $600 US... There are plently of cheaper options and even some good free ones such as The Gimp. Do a quick search and I'm sure you'll find something desent
I Use Adobe CS2. Great software bundle, tutorials, tech support, and good versitile user interface! Plus If you actually own the software like I do then You get all kinds of extras that are very useful in web development. Hope that answered your question. Talk to you later.

If you get Adobe Photoshop 7 the full package, I think you are given other packages like Adobe ImageReady and Illustrator which are very helpful for webdesign.
