FireFox slower than IE...
I use FireFox myself and it seems to run pretty fast on my PC. I found this and thought you might find it interesting...

kfrench writes "Internet browser speed tests for 'cold starts', 'warm starts', rendering CSS, rendering tables, script execution, displaying multiple images and 'history'. 'Opera seems to be the fastest browser for Windows. Firefox is not faster than Internet Explorer, except for scripting, but for standards support, security and features, it is a better choice.'"

Well, all my browsers (IE, FireFox and Opera) all seem to load quite quick on my PC. IE may be faster at loading some aspects the Firefox but I still prefer firefox as my default browser.
Here is a tweak to make firefox work much faster. Seems to help on my PC.
1. Open Firefox.
2. Type about:config in the address bar.
3. Locate the following options, double click each one and change to the values listed below:
network.http.max-connections: 48
network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6
network.http.pipelining: true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 32
network.http.proxy.pipelining: true
thanks to M Cat at the Zen PC ( http://zenpc.blogspot.com) for that.

At first I was a fan of Firefox, but then I tried Opera is good.
The only downside for me is the small, back, forward and refresh buttons (etc...etc..) they are so small. I have just reformatted my computer so for now
I will stick with IE....then if I feel like it back to Opera.

Well, I think it's all a matter of preference. As long as you are happy, that's the main thing

I got this from from AAI-Support at http://www.aaitechnologies.co.uk/chat/

So now you know why IE loads faster from a cold start, however if you run an alternate shell on your windows system, eg litestep, talisman, etc you will find that both firefox and opera boot a lot faster than IE.
Firefox is better than IE but I have always stated that Opera is the fastest/best, however they dont market as much as firefox and a lot of people are put off by the banner in the unregistered version.
Firefox is also way more secure than ie, and is only vulnerable to about 10% of the scumware/spyware that IE is, with Opera its about 6%, both have way more features than IE as well.
Opera overview.
Tabbed interface
Skinable (and better skins than firefox)
integrated small screen/palmtop emulator.
RSS reader
Mail Client
more security features than both IE & firefox combined
etc, etc
Plus, its the Fastest browser out ther

Interesting... It makes sense
Looks like he's an Opera man. I don't mind Opera, I just find FireFox better.

I like firefox too the only problem i have with firefox is it takes twice as long to load webpage graphics on firefox then it does on ie or opera. For example if i open up a graphic intence website like webmaster-forums101 in firefox it takes twice as long to load the images on firefox then on ie or opera. That's the main reason i use opera. other thatn that firefox is a great web browser if theres a way i can make website graphics load fsater on it id use firefox all the time.

That is weird... Seems to laod alright on my PC... I suppose it all depends on your hardware, OS and internet connection... I have no idea....
You should try my FireFox Tweaking and see if it helps...
I'm interested to know if it helps you out.
