Default Netscape 8.0 Final Released

Quote:
Netscape has released the final version of its Netscape 8 Web browser. The browser toggles between the Internet Explorer and Firefox rendering engines as needed to satisfy compatibility and safety requirements. The revived browser is based upon Firefox 1.0.3, bundling Firefox's advanced features with a Netscape interface.
It's been years since I last used a newer version of Netscape! I'm downloadingh it now and will elt you know if it's any good After having a look through its featrues I wouldn't say its got anything better than Firefox & Opera.

Just installed it. I personally think that the top toolbar is very busy. The address bar & title bar is quite small even on a 1024x768 screen res.

It's got some cool features such a built in Autofill and you can even set site controls to tell the browser whether to trust the site. It also has a built in tab preferences section... You have to download one for Firefox.

Some of the features are very similar to Firefox.

"It's been a while since anyone's mentioned Netscape's name and we think we've come out with what we think is a really exciting browser product that's got a unique take on the security question, that really differentiates it from any other browser out there," said Jeremy Liew, Netscape general manager.

Netscape has updated its Netscape 8 Web browser after it learned that exploits plugged by the latest release of Firefox remained un-patched, leaving users of the one-day-old browser susceptible to attack and the possibility of a malicious user gaining complete control over their PC.
Well well well....

Poor Netscape

IE Head: Netscape 8 Breaks XML in IE

Quote:
In a Web log posting, Internet Explorer program manager Dave Massy has called out Netscape 8 for purportedly breaking XML rendering in IE6. The news comes as the second blow to the revived Netscape browser, which initially shipped with critical security flaws. But at least one user says the XML bug does not affect everyone.
