The "main" reason you are up the top of the search engines for Free Webmaster Resources is because you use that word a lot in your site and it's in your title. You title is a very important thing!

:shock: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! lol, that was my first ever self introduction on a forum! :shock: It's okay though, but I don't think I am going to rewrite my intro, sorry.

Yes, that is a large factor in why my site is so popular(not 'why' though as i will explain further on), but it was also taken into consideration when I designed the site.

I read like 25 different articles on search engine optimization and traffic optimization in general.

When search engines spider through a site, the title in a text link is very important. When I have people linked to my site from a button i make them use an ALT-tag with the title of my site in it to have the same effect as a text link.

At first thought I agreed that the reason my site is so popular is because of the title. Then i remebered that the main thing that people search for when coming to my site is not even webmaster resources, not free webmaster resources, not free resources, none of those 3 words are in the main searched keywords of Webmasters who come to my site. My biggest entry page from search engines right now is actually my flash generator page and following that is my free templates page. Those two pages take up the top 5 or 6 most searched for keywords/phrases when coming to my site. Then after those pages comes free webmaster resources and webmaster resources, and combined they send less than either of the top 2 keywords...

My conclusion for the reason my site is so popular is that I've spent hours and hours, well actually days and days and days contacting site after site about exchanging links. It's been in this last month wjhere I've done it every single day, and because of that I think I will reach atleast under 50,000 according to alexa.com. In this last week my site's shown from 88,000 to 120,000 in traffic rank, today it says 199,000 =( but many sites drop below that even when they're around 30 or 40,000 on some days.

That same alexa thing happend to my site. It was amazing! And to tell the truth, I havn't even started link exchanges or advertsing yet... I have been busy doing other thing... Must have been the Search Engines :cheesygr:

I am here because I typed +"webmaster resources" +"add link" in at Google and this site showed up

My site has just started and I am going around looking to exchange links, etc.

Yeah alexa bases a lot of their stats on google, and most traffic comes from search engines, so since you're listed in them then therefore people using alexa toolbar are also finding your site from search engines. So you get good alexa stats from 2 things, but all coming down to just the search engines.
