Default I AM IN TROUBLE! Hosting & Domain Problem...

I am terribly lagging behind building a web site in which I will need to add audio and visual material for my students, let's say language tutorials, videos, flash. I have been window-shopping and i'm seeing scams wherever i go.

Is there an efficient, honest plan i can afford for $ 20 - 50 a year with at least 500 Mb disk space and 50-100 bandwidth and that will allow me to move my domain in a short time from my present host?

I am with a webhost that says if i move to the competition i will lose my domain although others have assured me this is against the law. :x

I would really appreciate if someone could help me fix this thing.

Thanks for reading

Ouch! I suggest you search through google for a host or go to webhostingtalk.com to find a good host to suit your needs...

As for the host taking away your domain, I suggest you find out who is the "big guys" who oversee all web hosts / domain resgistrars and send in a complaint about the web host.

Hope that helps!

50-100 mbs? gbs? monthly? yearly?

I could probably get you some quality XLT Hosting for that price, depending on the answers of the above questions.

Default Thank You :-)

I checked with a number webhosts about my domain and the crap those corporate guys were trying to pull on me.

They are big liars (they said they had ICANN on their side but it isn't!), but what i find mean is that they assumed me to be a total moron.

I will file a complaint if they make more trouble, but as long as my domain is transferred, it's O.K.

Thanks for the site and the advice, Ben, i will look for some answers there, too.

When i said i was looking for a webhost i actually meant about 50 Gb bandwidth and 500-1000 Mb diskspace. If that's good enough for the kind of work i want to do. Or isn't it?

Thank you all for your support.

That's a ton of bandwidth, but I can get you that much (monthly I assume?).

If you don't want to go with us, I will help you find another host because I am that nice. :P

Default OK, Let's hear it!

You don't have to be that nice. Fair is good enough, buddy. You may want to e-mail me and tell me about these hosting plans. O.K.?

500-1000 MB, 10-50 GB monthly bandwidth, 99.9 uptime or very close, $ 3-10 a month included setup fee, single monthly plans if possible, money-back guarantee, kind helpdesk with phone numbers.

Hope to hear from you

Thats a ton of bandwidth. But I can give you your 2 GB storage and 50 GB customised account for 29.99/month. You can check out favhost for our many other benifits. You'll have to email my sales department to customise a plan for you. Just mention this ad, and they will set it up for you.

sincerely,
