Question help a newbe website maker

Hi guys and girls I just started to make a website for company I work for I have never made a wed site before but have read html and php books the problem I am having is that I can’t figer out how to put more than 500 excel file on my web site to be download I also want to know how to make a login page and how to keep a log file for who is login in what time how long did they login for and what did they download

I hope some can help me

I can send you a copy of what I have done if some one wants to see what I am trying to do

Welcome to the forums!

OK, if you want to upload excel documents onto your website for people to download onto their local PC, I would highly recommend zipping them (exceldocs.zip). This will compress them for faster download. You can download winzip from http://www.winzip.com/

As for the download manager, you woudl either have to program the entire script yourself or do a search in Google or check out HotScritps

If you have bought professional hosting they should have logging software already preinstalled,as for login scripts this is simple to set up, it wont stop a semi competent hacker but it will do for most people.
